Fedora 39 KDE Plasma battery not charging but detected

Hi guys, I just installed Fedora alongside Windows 11. Everything went okay, but I noticed that the battery is not charging on Fedora, but it shows up as 100% on Windows and charges normally.

I also noticed that if I unplug the charger while on Fedora, my laptop turns off, but works fine on windwos.

On the control panel it shows the battery as 0% charged and not charging.

I ran Upower and got this output:

upower -i /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/battery_BAT0

Very strange, good infos already, please add hardware infos, what manifacturer, what make, what embedded controller and BIOS version etc.

Also please use ``` before and after codeblocks

Try these commands to get the infos:

sudo dmidecode -t system | grep -E 'Manufacturer|Product|Version|Serial'
sudo dmidecode -t bios | grep -E 'Version|Vendor|Release Date'
sudo dmidecode -t baseboard | grep -E 'Manufacturer|Product|Version'
sudo fwupdmgr get-devices

i have similar issues. Even though my laptop is fully charged, if I turn it off, without AC I cannot turn it on again. After turned on with AC, the control panel also shows battery 0%.

please find my device info here:

It seems likely that the battery is either failed and will not recharge or that the charging system has failed. I suggest that you first replace the battery to see which may be the case.

How old is your system & battery? Maybe it is still under warranty?

hello jeff,

turns out the battery was dead. luckily it was under warranty and got it replaced, now it works just fine.

Thanks!
