As title says. I’m using a Framework laptop from late 2023, so my battery itself should be plenty good.
Anyway, I’m running Fedora 41. I applied a bunch of updates this morning, and since then, the battery charge/status icon is behaving weird. It was working just fine before.
Namely, when the battery reaches full charge, it acts as if I had unplugged the charger. But somehow, it’s like the battery is still kept charged? The battery ‘remaining time’ estimation also keeps going up. It says 18:31 right now, which is obviously nonsensical.
Even more concerning was that after a while of this, I saw my battery health drop from 83% to 81%. Might be a coincidence, but I’m worried now. Is this thing bugged enough to be destroying my battery through overcharging or something?
Am I the only one experiencing this sort of bug?
EDIT - I’m conducting further tests to try and narrow down what could be causing this. A friend suggested I try booting an older kernel, but that didn’t fix it… but then it was flipflopping between ‘charging’ and ‘not charging’ states.
I thought maybe the USB-C card thing has some bad connection, so I connected the charger straight to the inner USB-C port. I’ll see if I still get problems this way… I posted because I started getting issues after the update, so I suspected something was broken, but it might just be a coincidence.
