Fedora 36 has annoying pauses periodically, mostly in Thunderbird? How can I troubleshoot?

,

I have these consistent annoying pauses mostly noticed in Thunderbird 102.5.0 Linux 64-bit.

“sudo top” shows that cpu spikes on qemu-system-x86 and Thunderbird during these pauses. The output of sudo uname -a is “6.0.10-200.fc36.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Sat Nov 26 16:53:11 UTC 2022 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux”

Any ideas on what tools I can leverage to troubleshoot whether this is a Thunderbird specific issue or Fedora 36? I first noticed this when I upgraded from Fedora 35 to Fedora 36? I am using Lenovo Laptop ThinkPad P1 Gen 4i laptop with 64 GB Ram.

Welcome to ask.fedora @klksajosaij

If you not had time yet, please read the #start-here section.

I think with top you made already a good choice to debug.

As I do not see enough information about your system, I just can guess and propose you to switch off qemu while using Thunderbird locally ?! To see if it is not just the virtualization who slows your system down ?
