not sure why but the ESC key has completely stopped working since i installed fedora kde spin on my laptop.
kinfo:
Operating System: Fedora Linux 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.13.0
Qt Version: 6.9.0
Kernel Version: 6.14.4-300.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 8 × AMD Ryzen 7 4700U with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 30.7 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics
also using fcitx-hangul. will provide asked system info.
As a check do this in a konsole terminal.
^[
0000000 033 \n
0a1b
0000002
After the od -cx
I typed ESC Return Ctrl-D?
Do you see the ^[
echoed for the ESC?
Do you see the 0a1b
(1b is the code for ESC in hex)?
If that works then which app are you typing ESC in that does not work?
Also worth checking the kde settings for the keyboard.
Start System Settings
Click on Keyboard
What is the selected Model
?
Can you change it for one that matches your keyboard? Does that help?
Click Key Binding
(top right of window)
Type esc
into the search box
Are any of the option checked?

od -cx
0000000
i typed od -cx
in terminal, pressed ESC, then Ctrl-D.
only 000000 is printed.
i’m using generic 104 key
.
Your first screen shot shows that you have mapped ESC to switch layout.
Clear that setting, using the <X
button to the right of ESC, and you should have ESC back working.
