Can't access *.fedoraprojects.org websites in Syria

OFAC has officially lifted U.S. sanctions on Syria:

  • General License 25 – Immediate Sanctions Relief for Syria (May 23, 2025):

Please update Fedora’s Export Control Policy and allow access to *.fedoraproject.org domains from Syria without VPN.

This requires a ticket to Fedora Council (to affirm the change in status) and Fedora Infrastructure (to implement it).

I would agree with this as the correct process. I also anticipate this will require legal review.

I think my post already has council tag, Also BIS has already eased controls on Syria as of Sept 2, 2025. EAR99 items are covered under the new SPP License Exception, so we’re legally clear to move forward right away.
