Just a heads-up! I’ve been browsing the Black Friday deals and spotted a hefty discount on the Dell XPS 13 (2022), at least here in the UK. I used to have an older XPS model, and it ran Fedora like a dream.
Has anyone else been eyeing up any Fedora-friendly laptops in the sales? Let me know if you’ve found any gems!
It looks like Lenovo is having some good deals leading up to Black Friday and Cyber Monday on their ThinkPad range of laptops, including the T16 and X1 laptops which tend to be great for running Fedora.
Thanks for the answers, I like the options you advised, but I had already purchased the XPS 13 9315 I mentioned. I must say it’s impressive - quite literally everything works out of the box! The wi-fi, the camera, all my Bluetooth headphones… A good option for everyone looking for a Linux laptop!
i have been running my XPS 15 9510 with oled 3.5k touch 3 years now and after 1.5 years using it is finally stable i bought it when it came so not all went as should at start, but now it is pretty rock solid tho my model has Temp issues it gets hot on heavy workflows chassis has been bulged little bit and keyboards might melt the model is just known for this heat issues.
i advice to give it some stress test at first to see is your model good for temps or does it get hot especially chassis and keyboards side mine gets so hot i cant use keyboards or without table and if it gets hot send it back since there is models that has this “heat issue” due bad design on cooling side
I installed Fedora 41 yesterday and am still setting it up. Just set up fingerprint sensor, and it works! I know there are developers versions of XPS lineup with Ubuntu pre-installed, so I assumed everything was gonna work smoothly with Fedora too.
yeah it just works only issues on some models before they made upgraded/fixed versions on those is the heat issues only it just gets hot like my XPS getting really surface hot when GPU gets 53+ celsius and if i stress on rendering alot it is really hot or in games well not really designed on games cooling side
bonus is that you get all firmware updates form fedora too FWUPD wins
