Big drivers problem (nvidia)

Hello fellow fedoras.

Ive download three days ago Linux fedora KDE plasma. The problem: iam unable to install nvidia drivers and apparently the drivers are already installed ( NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is ins
talled and running.).

I am trouble shooting for the last three days at least two hours a day and i dont find any solution. Is there anything i did wrong? Iam kinda new to Linux, i had a year or two ago Linux mint installed and for a short time Fedora workstation, which both worked without problems.
Here the hardware:
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Memory: 16 GB
GPU: Nvidia gtx 1060 3GB Vram

I would apprechiate any help i can get.

This post is sparse on information, but having the GTX 1060 gpu installed means you can not use the current driver available for fedora 44 and later.
The post here applies on how to solve the issues with that older GPU and installation of the nvidia drivers can be performed by following the instructions here.

thanks, now the third party programms work and the graphics are also clean. Is there any way to check if the driver is actully working?

nvidia-smi should now work, dose it not?

Method2.

modinfo nvidia | more

Method3.

dnf list akmod-nvidia xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-cuda

Method4.

nvidia-settings

lsmod | grep nvidia will reveal if the driver is loaded
As already mentioned the output of nvidia-smi should also show it.
Finally, as a third option, lspci -nnk | grep -iA3 nvidia should show the driver used as well.

thanks
