Following on from a post about my suggestion to add ‘User Guide’ in the Audinux repository , I’m happy to kickstart initial articles and help more users try out plugins for music production and enhancement of sound quality.
A rough idea of table of contents would look like;
Introduction to Audinux
How to find right Audio/Music packages for Fedora Linux
Plugins vs hardware outboard gear
Plugin host (carla) and format in Linux
Use cases: vocal chains and more
How to find subpackages that complement plugins and install subpackages
How to load plugins to DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and OBS Studio
Rack and patchbay
Documentation format: markdown file (as in the Audinux build)
Just so you know, I’m working quietly to test out plugins for recording and editing audio on video footage on various recording software and DAWs.
Qpwgraph is awesome. Visual configuration and virtual patchbay help with connecting multiple sources into my laptop installed with Fedora JAM with ease. Many of ‘no sound issue’ is discovered by visual checking.
I tried qpwgraph nice tool. I am using ray session on my side.
I really like the possibility to connect mono / stereo wires.
Quite happy too with the new version of tuxguitar (from github). Still a complex tool to build / install but very efficient to read / render guitar pro score.
Title: Plan and Publish User Guide for Audinux, a repository for FOSS music applications and plugins
Abstract: Audinux is a Fedora Linux repository for music applications and plugins. To expand user base of Audinux, we will be creating ‘User Guide’ section so creative people can utilize Audinux to the full potential. We hope to create new Documentation pages under ‘User Guide’ templates, which can be edited using GitHub web editor with ease or Git-workflow from local writing setup and text editor.
A rough idea of table of contents would look like;
Introduction to Audinux
How to find right Audio/Music packages for your creative work
Plugins vs hardware outboard gear
initial configuration
Plugin host (carla) and format in Linux
Use cases: Home recording
How to find subpackages that complement plugins and install subpackages
How to load plugins to DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and OBS Studio
I haven’t used GitHub Pages, so I don’t know how to push changes and what build/preview script is possible for local testing. Could you help me how to create new pages and Table of Content (menu) in Audinux?
My mastodon address: @joseph_curwen@musicians.today
But I don’t know if this is interesting to add to the google doc you created as I will not attend to the Writing Day. Maybe if there’s a possibility to participate remotely … I will check.
No problem. I’m just sharing a plan to coordinate abstract/content in advance with you.
I’m motivating myself to start with creating a template and use an opportunity to write an article during an event with other documentation writers.
By the way, the virtual event is open for ticket holders who paid for the whole period (3 days - 125 Euros) or complimentary ticket holders. I managed to get one on the day of application closing date. The video footage will be uploaded to YouTube 1 week after the event as far as i know.
Thanks so much for supporting me learn the ropes with Audinux content workflow
I forgot to add initial configuration section in ToC. I’m just thinking out loud…would it be okay for you to cover initial configuration for musicians / music recording or something like that? It would massively help me (and other volunteers during Writing Day) stay consistent with the way you construct the content.
I updated the doc.
I added a part related to initial configuration.
I will read the document I found on Linuxmusicians and will add some interesting settings too.
For some users, who want to use a standard kernel as well as the realtime kernel on the same device, it makes sense to have a second bootloader entry and switch it back to the standard one based on demand.
Yesterday I got stuck with a really stupid bug: I viewed the introduction page with a slight zoom. And the url of the footer was just below the button which leads to the introduction page and I was redirected to https://pages.github.com
I plan to add a “second level” configuration section where I will talk about alternative kernels.
I wanted to add a package which will add new entries in grub to boot the standard kernel with the realtime options. But, for now, I am a little under skilled in grub configuration
