Audinux repository updated for Fedora 38

I updated the Audinux COPR repository (Audio / Music tools for Fedora) to be used on Fedora 38.

Still work in progress, but a lot of packages are already available.
You can read some more informations related to this repo here:

Audinux

And the COPR repository is available here:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/ycollet/audinux/

You can report problems related to these packages here:

The list of problems meet during the build:

With gcc 13, it looks like the cstdint header is not a default one and you need to specify it.
Some xsimd headers too are not here by default.
And some spec need to be fixed for a build for aarch64.
Not that much work finally

So, the last bits which remain to be fixed:

Cstdint missing:

yabridge - cstdint + rust problems - let's wait a new release ...
ossia-score - cstdint
rack-v2-SurgeXTRack - cstdint

SIMD:

rack-v1-BaconMusic - aarch64 - fatal error: pmmintrin.h: No such file or directory
rack-v1-JE - aarch64 - fatal error: pmmintrin.h: No such file or directory
rack-v1-ParableInstruments - aarch64 - fatal error: pmmintrin.h: No such file or directory
rack-v1-squinkylabs-plug1 - aarch64 - fatal error: pmmintrin.h: No such file or directory
rack-v1-SurgeRack - aarch64 - fatal error: xmmintrin.h: No such file or directory
rack-v2-RPJ - fatal error: emmintrin.h: No such file or directory

These packages were already in that stat on Fedora 37. I will try to make these patch with a priority for Surge VCV Rack plugin. It’s already fixed for Rack v2.

Missing packages:

miniaudicle - No matching package to install: 'qscintilla-devel' # waiting for qt5 support

Some patch are actively developped, so, let’s wait a little bit for this one

Various:

vmpc - cstdint -> error: invalid use of incomplete type 'class mpc::engine::audio::server::NonRealTimeAudioServer
mpk-m2-editor - Error: The version in the Python package metadata 0.0.0 normalizes to zero.
improviz - ?? - a rust problem

A new album made with LMMS on Fedora 38: Cathedrals of Confusion

Made with LMMS / Cardinal / VCV Rack / Guitarix / Audacity.

Some samples were downloaded from https://freesound.org
Some voices were downloaded from https://librivox.org

All these songs are available too on spotify and other streaming platforms. All the money made are send to caritative organization. Last year that was around 45 euros. 1/3 for Red Cross, 1/3 for Human League Defense and 1/3 for … Debian.

Another album published on Jamendo: Remembering a Sad Planet

This one contains some “psychedelic” song made with VCV Rack / Cardinal / Guitarix / Audacity.

The instruments used are: Ukulele / Kalimba and voice.

I spent some time defining some patches and after that, play with this patch for a day or two and when it’s OK, it’s recorded.

For extra-vehicular activities: moving void, I used a nice function of Guitarix, it can generates MIDI notes corresponding to notes played on the guitar. And then, in Cardinal, I mixed the audio of the guitar + a sound generated by a synth through an envelop controled by the MIDI note. And several other effects are added too.

VCV Rack / Cardinal are very intersting tools to play with !
