Another introduction

Hello there, I’m looking forward to participating and contributing to Fedora.

I’m a long time Linux user, I’ve used lots of distros in my time, starting with Slackware 7.0, through Gentoo and then Debian for many years. Last year I tried Bazzite, as I was tired with fiddling about to get games to work, and I found learning about Atomic Desktops and containers really fun and interesting.

So I made the leap over to Fedora Sway Atomic a few months ago, and for the most part it has been great. I have really enjoyed throwing myself out of my comfort zone with it, and figuring out how to do things right. I’ve been keeping copious notes of everything I’ve done with it, which in some cases might inform some bug reports / suggestions, where things have been unexpected.

I like writing code when I have time, with Go being my language of choice.

I hope to contribute to Fedora with useful bug reports, PRs, and the like, over time, wherever I see things which might be useful, most likely with a focus on Sway & Atomic Desktop stuff. I look forward to getting to know some of you; this seems like a nice friendly place to be.

Hello @njwhite and welcome to :fedora: !

You can report bugs and suggest features or improvements on the issue tracker. You can also open issues and PRs in our documentation repository. I would suggest you also join us in our Matrix room, #atomic-desktops:fedoraproject.org.

Thanks @hricky, very handy links, I will do! I haven’t used Matrix before, it’ll be another thing for me to learn about and get the hang of. Good to know it’s a place you hang out, that makes it worth figuring out

Yeah, in this Matrix room we mostly coordinate the efforts of the Fedora Atomic Desktops Special Interest Group (SIG).
