AMD graphics driver issue fedora 33

Hi there,

I’ve just switched from Windows to Linux and I seem to have a problem with the graphics driver on Fedora 33 (Workstation), 64 bit.

The display keeps flashing black screens occasionally and I’m quite certain it’s something to do with the drivers as it wasn’t doing this on Windows 10. The CPU that I’ve got on my HP laptop is AMD Ryzen™ 5 2500U with Radeon™ Vega 8.

Can anyone advise on what I can try to rectify this issue?

Many Thanks!

Can you describe the “flashing black screen” situation a little bit more? Does it happen at random in normal use, or is it when you are doing something specific? How long is the “flash” — an instant or a second or two? Do you see anything logged with journalctl at around the time it happens?

I think what I’d suggest at this point is to update to F34 beta to see if the issue is resolved. If not, we can try to narrow it down further and either find an existing matching driver bug report or create a new one.

I guess the same problem is concerned aThis with graph.

Look at the picture:

When I see similar issue in my TV, it is due the bad contacts of the HDMI port. Carefully unplug and replug again fixed it for me until I touch the cable again.

Not sure if you are having the same issue or not.

The ports should not be the problem as it works perfectly on linuxt mint using my other partition.
