Is your system fully updated (both Fedora packages and vendor firmware)? There have been issues with sound that went away with recent kernels. If the issue exists with a fully updated system, please provide hardware details by pasting the output from inxi -Fzxx
(as text using the</>
button) run in a terminal. This will help others with the same hardware find your post. You may want to check the LHDB for probes of the same model. Sometimes workarounds for model-specific issues are mentioned in the LHDB.
Are you using the nvidia drivers or are you relying on the abilities of nouveau for audio support via hdmi?
The nvidia driver from rpmfusion supports sound for me with no issues at all via the nvidia GPU and hdmi.

Note that I edited your reply above and added the preformatted text tags so it shows exactly as formatted on your screen. Please try to use those when posting data that you copy and paste from your screen.
The way to do that is by either using the </>
button on the toolbar or by placing triple back quotes on the line preceding the text and on the line following the text. It should look similar to this.
```
pasted text here
```
It is also not necessary to post 2 copies of the same text to different persons.
I note that you are using the nouveau driver and as such it seems that the audio is probably not properly supported.
My suggestion is to install the nvidia drivers from the rpmfusion repo which should then enable audio using the hdmi output.
sudo dnf install akmods
followed by a reboot
enable the additional rpmfusion repos as shown here
sudo dnf install akmod-nvidia-470xx
.
wait 5 minutes then reboot.
There is only one thing I am concerned with.
The GTX 680 seems to be in the series (kepler architecture) that ended support with the nvidia 470xx driver and seems not supported by the newer drivers. Digging into the info on the nvidia site appears to confirm this.
Since you would need to install the 470xx driver then wayland is not supported and you would be required to use the xorg DE instead.

There is only one probe for your model in the LHDB , but it doesn’t have an Nvidia card. Did you have sound with another linux version? You card is in the NVE0 family (Kepler) Nouveau Feature Matrix which does show audio support, but on LHDB :
Driver is not found or not configured.
The device is supported by kernel versions 3.16 and newer.
You are probably need to configure system for the device to work properly (modify kernel config, install firmware, etc.).
Does journalctl
mention snd_hda_intel
? What happens if you try loading the driver from a terminal?
A quick “fix” would be to get a cheap USB sound dongle.
@gnwiii His post above showed this.

There should be additional mention of snd_hda_intel
in the journal that may reveal why sound isn’t working. On my elderly iMac using nouveau:
% journalctl -b -g snd_hda_intel |cat
