After sleep login stays logging forever F34

Hello,

When I close the lid of my laptop and let it sleep for a while (some hours), and then open de lid and proceed to log in I enter the password, but it stays logging in forever, I have to restart the laptop. I have tried to enter the terminal with Ctl + Alt + F2 but all it does is freeze the image for a few minutes and then the login cycle starts moving again.

I want to report de bug, but I don’t know what is causing the issue. I have the journalctl -b saved do I publish it here?

Hi Nicolas:

This isn’t the best place for bug reports. I know, however, that hibernation has been been a long-standing problem with Linux. The first thing to do is probably to make sure that your firmware is up to date. Personally, I prefer to just do a full shutdown of my machine rather than using any sleep/hibernation modes. I always worry that the bits will rot in memory somewhere if they are not properly refreshed from time to time. :slightly_smiling_face:

Sure—we can take a look here to see if it’s something obvious, and if it’s a bug you can then proceed to file it.

Could you please paste the journal output here? Along with the output of fpaste --sysinfo --printonly?

Thanks for the help, I have tried to post the output, but even the last 8 minutes exceeded the maximum 32000 characters. I don’t think any shorter than that is helpful.

Do you know a way to share this? journalctl output is 640 kB.

Here is the output of fpaste --sysinfo --printonly:

No errors, though. Can you please create a new user, without any themes/extensions and see if the issue persists? We need to figure out if it’s caused by some modifications you’ve made to the user. If that’s not the case, it’ll more likely to be a system issue that we can then debug.

Hello,

I have disabled everything and the issue has not happened again since then. Sorry for the delay but I wanted to be sure about the results.
I didn’t have any theme other than the Boston icons. So I will try to enable only that to see if I can replicate the bug.

Should I report this in to the icon repo or to Gnome shell? To the latter as I believe that Gnome shouldn’t be affected by issues in the icon pack, what do you think?

You’ll report the bug to the icon repository if Gnome works fine without it. Gnome does not (cannot rather since testing them all out is practically impossible) need to work with all the extensions/themes out there—they need to work with Gnome
