My new X1 Carbon will arrive next week with Fedora Workstation 33 pre-installed. Is there a way to update it to Silverblue 35 without wiping the SSD and installing Silverblue from a USB drive?
I don’t think you can convert from Workstation to Silverblue in any easy way.
You should probablly reinstall if you prefer Silverblue.

I would even assume that such an upgrade process would be far more complicated and vulnerable (and time intensive) than a new installation of Silverblue. A new Silverblue installation does not take much time anyway.
In general: be aware that you can keep directories like /home if its an independent partition (or if you copy its content to one). Most other things (applications and such) are intended to be transitioned in Silverblue to (and into) several container types anyway and could not be taken over from the old Fedora (at least, should not…).

OK. Yes, I agree that installing from a USB hardly takes any time at all. I was just wondering if there was some magic terminal command that could upgrade my system. Now I know there isn’t.

AFAIK there is no possible way to transition from Workstation to Silverblue or vice-versa. Silverblue is an immutable OS and is managed very differently than workstation.

Not possible because of rpm-ostree architecture but from Silverblue you can switch to any fedora distribution with rebase 
so you have to format to harddrive and install Silverblue or Kinoite.
