Wifi secrets

Good morning or afternoon,
Been using fedora for a couple weeks now. I rebooted the computer to finish an update and now I can’t connect to WiFi. I think I forgot how I got it to work last time -
It just takes a long time thinking about connecting and then says “no secrets were provided.” Or “failed to get secrets for [wifi name]”
I gave it the password, I don’t know what secrets it wants

Each wifi AP has to be properly configured. It has a name (SSID) and usually has a password for connection. The password would be the ‘secret’ it is commenting about.

The way your system is configured to connect is by using the WIFI button on the upper right menu. This image shows mine with my personal AP connected and all the visible SSIDs in range also displayed.

Connecting is as simple as clicking on the appropriate SSID name then entering the proper password. If you enter an incorrect password it will not connect.

If you have forgotten the password to connect to your AP then it must be gotten directly from the AP.
The management interface would be used for that and if you do not have the management password most can be reset to a default password for management. The AP will have 2 passwords (or more). One for a direct connect to the management interface, and one that is set to allow systems to connect and use the internet.

I know I have the right password because the password works for my phone and my work computer.
I tried switching the setting from Store Password to Ask Every Time and back but it still says “no secrets were provided” after it tries and fails to connect

Ok, so the problem was KDE Wallet.

The step I couldn’t remember was putting in the KDE Wallet password before it tries to connect to the Internet. I closed the box and then it didn’t prompt me again until I restarted the computer. Then if I put the KDE Wallet password in it has the wifi stored.

It should work now as long as next time I remember that I did configure KDE Wallet and need to put it’s password in
