I’m new here. My main problem is that I can’t connect to the wireless network; it just keeps spinning endlessly and doesn’t stop, and it doesn’t detect any available networks either. If you could share what did you try, logs, error messages…
Did the WiFi work before? It’s properly detected by the kernel? Any error messages during initialization (can check those those with dmesg and journalctl)
When reporting problems with Linux, you are looking for help from the user community. Without enough detail to allow others with similar hardware and software to reproduce your issue we are left guessing. Start by posting the output (as web-discoverable pre-formatted text) from installing the inxi package and running inxi -ezxx in a terminal. Note that not all WiFi hardware is supported properly in linux. Some vendors ignore linux, others are slow to update linux packages. I often resort to using USB WiFi dongles (see [GitHub - morrownr/USB-WiFi: USB WiFi Adapter Information for Linux · GitHub](GitHub - morrownr/USB-WiFi: USB WiFi Adapter Information for Linux · GitHub for suitable adapter) while waiting for vendors to provide updates.
As I mentioned earlier, I’m new to this, and there are certain steps I can’t manage due to a lack of experience. I also mentioned that I use a USB Wi-Fi adapter; currently, if I remove it, the Wi-Fi icon disappears—as if the driver were missing. With the help of AI, I installed a driver (I’m not sure which one), but with it installed, whenever I checked for available networks, it would keep searching endlessly without ever finding any. I haven’t been able to connect to Wi-Fi any other way since day one. Thanks for the reply.

Could you share the output of dmesg ? run on a terminal sudo dmesg > dmesg.txt and share the file here to take a look, this Realtek RTL8852BE PCIe should work without any external driver. You can see how both devices have driver: rtw89_8852be and driver: mt7601u the output of dmesg will show any errors during the device initialization (if any)
Both these adapters have “in-kernel” support, so your AI-driven changes may have made it harder to track down your issue. HP has instructions for resetting WiFi to the “as-built” defaults. You should also check for vendor firmware newer than: 07/26/2024. Are you dual booting Windows?
Also worth checking is rfkill status.
If you run rfkill and see something like

Well, I think I’ll reformat my laptop and reinstall the system. Since it had this error right from the start—and it wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi from the beginning anyway—what do you recommend? Is reformatting the best solution, or is there a way to fix it? Should I switch to another distro, reformat, or what? Thanks for the help.

Have you tested with the live iso? Does it work there?
If not there are re spins you could test:
With a live iso you could connect to linux-hardware.org and check which linux supports your hardware.
Normally with some tweaking a big part of hardware can be made working.
When I installed it via USB, I used AI—which was my first mistake, haha. The Wi-Fi issue was present right from the moment I installed it on the drive, and come to think of it, I haven’t even tested the Bluetooth yet. What do you think? I downloaded it as an ISO file using Ventoy, and it wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi in the live environment either.
