I have a new pc but it came with no wireless network and bluetooth, so i need to buy a wireless network card. But in my country (china), half of wireless network card sellers doesn’t say is the product compatible with Linux at all, other half only confirm the compatibility for some weird chinese linux (e.g. EulerOS) or only confirm the compatibility of specific kernel version (such as 3.10-6.2) which it is unacceptable for fedora.
But many of them says the chip of the card using (e.g. Intel AX210), and some other can confirm the chip model by check the detail page carefully. So what chip shuld I buy?
Try using the LHDB to see what others are using with your PC model, but also beware that some vendors change ship model without updating their online sales pages. From decades of experience with Linux I have learned that WiFi often breaks with updates, so find it important have a USB WiFi dongle with “in-kernel” support – see USB-WiFi for times with on-board WiFi fails.
In the past, Intel has been reliable, but now they have financial problems. They could lose staff and/or sell the WiFi part of the business, so I would not rule out other chipsets with good in-kernel drivers. I have a couple systems with Intel WiFi that have not had problems, but a search of this forum for #intel-wifi-card shows that some users had problems with Intel WiFi in Fedora 42.
