I have updated one by one the few apps that I remember what they are called in terminal. But the rest just fails miserably. Any ideas please?

It appears that your system is trying to install an i686 version of the gstreamer package which shouldn’t be the case, since your system is x86_64.

I’m not sure which of your existing packages is triggering this installation, maybe someone can chime in with advice on how to best determine that.

Try this way:

sudo dnf distro-sync --refresh

trying to update installed gstreamer packages with .i686 arch.

Those are 32-bit (legacy) libraries or packages that likely got pulled in as dependencies of another package (for example graphics applications, or Steam or other games).

In addition to distro-sync, you can see a list of all .i686 packages

dnf repoquery --installed *.i686
dnf repoquery --installed --whatdepends *.i686

When you know what pulled them in, you can remove the .i686 packages and reinstall the package that requested them.
