I just installed https://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/fedora/linux/releases/40/Spins/x86_64/iso/Fedora-KDE-Live-x86_64-40-1.14.iso on my Framework 16, and I’ve also no registered touchpad, except that in my cause, the touchpad doesn’t work.
I’ve created a corresponding thread at Touchpad doesn't function on Fedora 40 - Linux - Framework Community, but I don’t know whether this is a fault of Fedora or the laptop.
Does the touchpad show up under dmesg?
Have you tried it from Xorg or another non-KDE desktop? Iirc Touchpads only show under Plasma 6 Wayland if they’re controlled by libinput. I’d grab openSUSE’s 900MB LiveUSB image with Xfce, boot it, and test real quick.
I also wonder if this might be something with I2C and ACPI; forcing a Windows OSI might do something different: Fedora 40 kde battery percentage not updating/always in charge - #19 by Espionage724

@Espionage724, thanks for those diagnostics. I’ll note them for the next time this occurs.
Luckily for me, the diagnosis necessary to confirm the problem was rather more simple, as Touchpad doesn't function on Fedora 40 - #8 by RokeJulianLockhart - Linux - Framework Community states:
I tried my brother’s FW16 touchpad in mine, and it functioned immediately. I’ll get it RMA’d.
