Touch screen issues with RPi

I have an rpi 4b with a touch screen display
I just installed f41 and ran into a couple of issues.

  1. The touch screen cannot be used to log in. It works to open the page where the password is entered, but the on-screen keyboard is not yet available so no password can be entered for login.
A very insecure workaround is to set the user for auto login so that can be bypassed. (or have an external keyboard)

  2. The second issue is even worse.
Allowing the system to blank and lock the screen seems to disable the touch screen so it is then impossible to unlock it without a forced power off and reboot.
The only reasonable workaround I have found for this one is to have an external keyboard for use in unlocking the screen, which is really aggravating since that means the necessity of carrying around a keyboard just to unlock the screen.
An alternative insecure workaround is to disable the screen blank & lock.

Has anyone else seen this and is it known if the issues are being addressed?

Did this work on f40?

In other words is it a regression or did it never work?

I have not use fedora on the RPi since 39 and am just setting up a new system and trying f41. I have never used a touch screen with fedora previously.

In other words I have no clue if this may be a regression, but it is the situation at present.

When the lock screen prevents use of the touch screen it really is a severe problem.

Should I file a bug on the issue? I just wondered if my problem was the first it has been seen before filing the bug.

The image I used was Fedora-Workstation-41-1.4.aarch64.raw.xz and I wrote it to the SD card with arm-image-installer. It boots clean and is easy to use except for the issues noted above.

I use a 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen. The Pi is mounted on the back of the screen which is on the inside of the lid of a radio case. The Pi is difficult to see and reach if I need to attach a usb device.

I’m travelling and cannot test on kde to see what it does till I get home.

I remember seeing the issue regarding lack of on-screen keyboard to enter the login password, reported here in the forums a few months ago, I just can’t find that topic.

Bug reported since it prevents use with a touch screen device

On my side, Raspberry Pi 4 + Touchscreen 7 (official) on Fedora 41. I’ve got the “fade to white” problem, so I needed to blacklist vc4 module. The touchscreen displays the login screen but the “touch” is not working at all.

We need someone that masterize Fedora and Raspberry Pi to make a documentation
