Tablet cursor issues, duplicate cursor

Hello, I am using fedora 44 and a huion kamvas 13 gen 3 tablet with opentablet driver.

I have experienced my tablet cursor never timing out, I can continue to use it and when I bring my tablet pen over it merges the dual cursors into a singular cursor only while actively using the tablet pen. Turning off the tablet while it is plugged in still causes the cursor to persist. I usually pop it out of the way in upper left, but it interacts badly with fullscreen things. It is functional but only so with the tablet pen (batteryless).

For example, if I am playing Hades, or other games that work well and have worked well for the last 5 editions of fedora, it will have flashing screen between the fullscreen thing and my background until I bring over my tablet pen to hover over hades and let the game know that’s a hades cursor and not me trying to get out of the fullscreen(this also visually transforms it into a hades cursor). This is an epilepsy risk, but I don’t have epilepsy, just noting it.

It isn’t limited to games, if I were to have a no games running steam page on, then it would try to flash between my browser and the steam page. Also sometimes it just flashes between my fullscreen browser (librewolf, firefox, ungoogled chromium browser apps from gnome software store all trigger it) and empty page.

Vesktop and a fullscreen browser also trigger it to flash trying to capture input from both dual cursors, despite me moving mine to the upper left of the screen where it theoretically shouldn’t interact with fullscreen apps. Prior user referred to that as 0,0 and I think that sounds accurate. Mine never timed out at all and didn’t magically reappear in the top left, I had to move it out of the way so I could tell which cursor was active so I suspect it doesn’t time out at all.

I haven’t done any debugging, this issue has existed for a few months, the people at open tablet driver said that I should let you all know this issue persists for people and is a known gnome issue.

For games the issue happens with both borderless fullscreen and regular fullscreen, not using fullscreen is sometimes the only way to make it stop flashing between white browser, green background, and whatever color game. The fix with hades where I hover the tablet over the screen selected, then select hades, then move it out of the way without touching to 0,0 does not work for every game. Actually it only works for Hades, mostly because I’m happy playing everything else not in fullscreen and haven’t tried. Sometimes I do that in krita but usually it merges into a singular cursor with krita.

Another ME TOO post with different hardware and similar issues. Similar issues with the same hardware and software are somewhat acceptable but when the hardware is different the discussion becomes confusing at best since it is difficult to tell which machine is being discussed.

I am moving your post to a new topic where it can receive support based exclusively on your specific hardware and software.

Sorry, I didn’t understand the forum netiquette. I was attempting not to spam and just to point out the Me Too portion. I must have misunderstood the forum rules since separate posts are encouraged with different hardware. Thanks for moving it for me.
