Since updating to Fedora 43, I have this issue where after the system goes to suspend and I wake it up, it will be working normally for a few seconds to then immediately suspend again. This is then repeated usually one or two additional times. After that, the system behaves normally. I have seen reports from other users facing the same issue, with the apparent commonality of being laptop users with NVIDIA GPUs (most likely hybrid, as is my case). I can on the other hand confirm that this does not seem to be present on my desktop computer, which also has an NVIDIA GPU but no integrated GPU.
I don’t fully know how to pinpoint the issue, so I attach the whole journalctl log from the first suspension notice to the point where I can resume using the computer normally.
Anyone else facing this problem? Any known solutions?
I’m facing the same issue along with the system failing to suspend when clicking on suspend in the power option. Couldn’t see anything in the journalctl log that stood out. Verified that going back to 42 this issue is not present, and suspend works as expected. Seen on both AMD and Nvidia systems.
I have also been struck by this, though on a desktop computer using an nvidia graphics card. There is no preamble, just a systemd-logind[1051]: The system will suspend now! a 30 seconds after waking up from suspend.
They were both the latest kernel at the time available for fedora 42 and 43. Attached the logs from what happens when you install the nvidia driver. By default on a fresh install with no drivers install the system will go into sleep and not come back from sleep. After installing the nvidia drivers the behavior is the same as on a AMD based GPU were it will attempt to go into sleep but immediately exit and not go to sleep. I have seen on the nvidia system the machine going into sleep and waking up constantly as if it’s stuck in a loop. This cause it to cycle power constantly on the system. It’s difficult to reproduce that one. If there’s something else I can check I’m more then happy to check it on the Nvidia system. Had to go back 42 on my AMD GPU machine as it’s my daily driver.
