Slow Samba in F42

Hello,

I am sorry I can’t give too many details about this but users have been reporting that access to a samba share is quite slower since I did the upgrade to 42 last week.

I don’t see any errors in the logs that would justify it, and I don’t know what could be causing it:

Slower network?
Slower ext4 filesystem for a directory with 214000 files and directories?
Slower Samba?
...?

Can anyone think of a reason I could test?

The server has been updated in place for years, so I don’t remember why a ssd is formated in ext4 instead of something like xfs, that would be the first change I would in hope it helps, but I would be grateful for any suggestions.

How slow?

Linux to/from a share from Windows seems to cap around 40MB/s (Nautilus/Thunar GUI file manager smb://), but Windows to/from Windows is the expected 100MB/s. I haven’t looked into it, but I think this could be fixed by disk mounting the SMB share with specific mount options. Browsing is still snappy though and doesn’t seem different F40-F42.
