Reboot not working after wifi stops working

On a Lenvo t430s the kernel 16 bug causes drop of wifi. Only a reboot makes it working again. However after wifi drops I am unable to reboot the laptop (no response) and have to remove the battery to reboot.

Is there a more convinient way to reboot the Lenovo T430s with Fedora 42 after Wifi dropped?

Hold the power button down for several seconds. It should turn off - does your not when this happens.

I think it’s about 4 or 5 seconds - long enough to not do it accidentally, but not so long that you get a numb finger from pressing on it.

What command are you using to shutdown?

I turn off my system with

shutdown now

or reboot with

reboot

I click on the switch icon on the top right, obviously but it doesnt rally matter. the machine freezes only the mouse pointer keeps moving. I have to remove the battery to switch it of.

So in order to rule out a failure in gnome to issue the power down sequence, what happens if you issue the shutdown command from a terminal? Does everything apart from the mouse still freeze?

Failed to execute shutdown binary
