I’m new to fedora and Linux as a whole and I had a few issues setting up too. I had to install fedora twice.
I use a dell Inspiron series model and upgraded it to win 11 for free when it came out but hthe recent updates were too much for my laptop. So I tried to switch to fedora.
Turned out that it was pretty laggy so I logged back on windows and tried to delete the fedora partitions. Big mistake I couldn’t delete all the partitions and fedora stopped loading properly and I lost the windows partition. I reinstalled fedora. And now on my bootloader there are 4 options, 2 non functional windows and 1 functional and 1 non functional fedora. But according to the partition app on ffedora there exists only 1 partition.
So I have a few queries.
How do I remove the other bootloader UEFI options
The software app just keeps “loading app information” all the time. I tried installing KDEconnect and Wine through the terminal and each app has 4-6 different apps starting withe their respective names and I don’t even know how to use it. KDEconnect only opens its settings app and nothing else
I also need to install and use zoom microsoft onenote, excel and word as I am a student and need them for academic purposes and I don’t know how to install them. I tried playonlinux for microsoft office but it just isn’t working.
Fedora is overall laggy for me and while my laptop isn’t top notch it is well over the requirements of fedora
Please help me. I don’t even have another device to setup a windows Installer flash drive
Pretty sure that the way to remove items from the boot loader is this command:
efibootmgr
sudo efibootmgr –b <bootnum> -B
I think the only way you can use Word, Excel and other Office applications is on the web if you have an Office 365 subscription. There are no Linux versions of these programs.
Welcome to the forum @yamcha . I’d open new posts for each individual issue so that when you’ve found a solution, you can mark it as the right one. It just works better and is easier to follow, otherwise we have people discussing all 4 issues here in one place.
It’ll be best to keep this one related to the bootloader issues and open new issues for the other three.
Ankur’s advice to break up each issue into its own thread is solid, yamcha, and since it sounds like you’re at a bit of an impasse and already at square one, it might be a good idea to do a fresh install. Additionally, you can provide many more details about your system—here’s a RedHat article to provide some guidance—so help is more, well, helpful.
If you’re committed to Office applications—that is, you cannot or will not use other options like LibreOffice or OnlyOffice—then I think Apollo 18 is correct that online versions are your only option. As for Zoom, it has a desktop client for Fedora that you can install from its download page.
