Hello Patrick.
Thank you you so much for all your projects. Yabridge and rest is just lifesaving for someone like me.
Just one thing what I can’t figuring out. I add your COPR for libcurl-gnutls and install it. But IEM plugins pack hang and not loading in Bitwig and Reaper. https://plugins.iem.at What do you think could be a problem?
Thank you.
After full reboot IEM plugins start working. Great! But SAFE plugins recognized but hang during the load. They probably too old or something, I don’t know.
Hi Serghei,
Happy New Year. Good to hear you find the coprs usefull. I have no experience with the IEM or SAFE plugins. The SAFE plugins are 32bit which might be the problem. Maybe they work with wine-7.0rc3 which I just built.
Best,
Patrick
Hello Patrick,
Thanks for providing the copr for this package. However, I ran into an issue when installing it through rpm-ostree:
error: Could not depsolve transaction; 1 problem detected:
Problem: package libcurl-gnutls-7.82.0-7.fc36.x86_64 requires libcurl(x86-64) >= 7.82.0-7.fc36, but none of the providers can be installed
- cannot install both libcurl-7.82.0-7.fc36.x86_64 and libcurl-7.82.0-5.fc36.x86_64
- package libcurl-minimal-7.82.0-7.fc36.x86_64 conflicts with libcurl(x86-64) provided by libcurl-7.82.0-5.fc36.x86_64
- conflicting requests
Do you have any idea how to resolve this problem?
I’m on Silverblue and when installing this through a toolbox with dnf, there’s no problem. But rpm-ostree cannot install it. Unfortunately, I need to install it through rpm-ostree because it has to have a system-wise access.
Any assistance would be very appreciated.
Regards,
Hi A,
curl-7.82.0-7 was pushed to F36 recently so libcurl-gnutls should install without an issue. Can you try to refresh your repo cache with:
sudo dnf update --refresh
And if that does not work then I guess you could try:
sudo dnf upgrade --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2022-c9c39810b8
Hey Patrick,
Thanks for your reply! You probably missed this part (that I’m using Fedora Silverblue), but I already am able to install it with dnf in a Toolbox. The problem is that that way it is containerised in the Toolbox and thus seemingly unavailable for other apps on the system. Silverblue doesn’t and cannot have dnf regularly, only through its Toolbox.
It’s why I want to layer it on my OS through rpm-ostree instead of dnf. Now that you mentioned, I refreshed rpm-ostree’s cache, but still the same issue.
What could be the problem here? Is there a manual way of resolving it?
(I’m a newbie so please bear with me )
Hey,
Sorry I missed the part about Silverblue. I don’t have experience with adding coprs to Silverblue but if it is possible to manually copy libraries into Silverblue then I would suggest to grab the files from the libcurl-gnutls rpm and do just that. First download the rpm from:
https://download.copr.fedorainfracloud.org/results/patrickl/libcurl-gnutls/fedora-36-x86_64/04641523-libcurl-gnutls/libcurl-gnutls-7.82.0-7.fc36.x86_64.rpm
and then unpack the rpm file tree with something like:
rpm2cpio libcurl-gnutls-7.82.0-7.fc36.x86_64.rpm | cpio -idum
and then you should find the libraries. You need to copy the library and 3 symlinks into /usr/lib64/
Thanks Patrick, I’ll try and come back with any results. Hope it works.
Could you upload the package for fedora 36? I use nobara, which isnt on 37 yet
I can’t because I don’t use Fedora 36 anymore and don’t keep old packages around. I don’t know Nobara but maybe they can help?
Hey Patrick! First of all thank you for all your work. You’re making music production on Fedora a straightforward process and many of us are benefiting from your dedication. I’m grateful for that.
Having said that, I have quite a few plugins that require the package libcurl-gnutls to work and I just upgraded to Fedora 39. Do you have an estimated date of when you will release the Fedora 39 version?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Irving. Thank you for the kind words. I’ll look into libcurl-gnutls this weeked, together with the 8.20 release. Best, Patrick
Update: the F39 libcurl-gnutls package is now available.
Wow! That was quick. Thank you Patrick!
I sent you a private message on Discord with some questions I have about music production in Fedora. If you have some spare time I’d appreciate if you can point me in the right direction.
Thank you once again!
Many many many thanks for this! I’m on Nobara 40 and almost switched distro because couldn’t get the VSTs working. Now they work flawlessly!
Hi Kristof,
Happy to hear that. Thanks for sharing.
Best,
Patrick
Hi Patrick
Thank you very much for this. Do we have a chance to get an update for Fedora 41?
Cheers!
Hi Hernando,
libcurl-gnutls for F41 is now available. I did not have time to test it so please let me know if there are issues.
Best, Patrick
Thank you very much. I’ll install my plugins and report back to you.
It works flawlessly! It’s a beauty!!!
Thanks again for letting me stay in Fedora for recording my stupid songs
Cheers!!!
