Hrm, I can’t make out if it’s taking less space than it did before. Maybe not.
Yes, a little more, you can note the diference because Welcome is H1, however we are fall into web development fields html and css.

Hi, I personally find the new link in header bar to Community Discussion Channels strange. As a user you have come here to get a problem solved and you are presented a link to an outdated page that links even more outdated pages and information.
Maybe we can put some information and links to IRC channels and mailing lists in #start-here or some other Overview topic here?! The remaining information on this page is useless and outdated (i.e. there is a docs page about Bug Reporting, …)
Can we remove this link?
Ugh, let’s not get into that. I think the search bar is fine. Let’s leave it for a bit.
Hrm, I don’t really see it as confusing. It’s just a link in the top bar. Most people will not click it at all. They will continue to use the forum as before. It’s only there to make it easier for those who do wish to see what other channels are there.
Maybe someone can update the wiki page instead? It’s the primary source of information so I’m not for duplicating information from it. Then we’ll end up with two outdated pages to update.
Pagure ticket:
My main concern with the link up there is that the bar is starting to get really crowded with text.
Does it matter, though? The bar is there with or without text. We’re just using available space.
Yep I think we need Easy responsive footer
As we discuss here:
And move all these information there:
As you can look an Example here:
Regards.,
Sure. Do we need to wait for a full theme which could take a while? Or can we enable the footer already and start adding info to it?
No, we don’t need to wait, we can enable it and add info there…
Regards.,
Here is a sample of the Footer we can tested there and see how it look and then implanted here:
just ping me…

To me it’s a kind of visual overload — the more stuff that gets put up there the more invisible the entire bar becomes.
OK. Maybe we’re making changes that aren’t really needed, and it’s just getting messier.
Should we just go back to what we had originally:
Maybe:
Community Discussion Chanel is large enough.
in the other side:
1.- Fedora => it’s supposed to be a fedora site
2.- Community => it’s supposed to be a fedora community
Maybe fit better:
Discussion Chanel
This reduce the distraction visual overload over the bar…
Regards.,
The change has made the top bar(s) big enough to almost totally fill the first visible page even with the browser at full screen and I have to scroll down to even see the row of links and beginning posts. That is annoying when most of my browsing on the site is looking for ways to assist users.
Possibly the search could be put as a button on or just below the “Start Here” bar and allow it to take up much less space that is totally wasted for many regulars. I’m thinking the button bar where the latest, new, unread, etc. buttons reside. A search text box with the normal magnifying glass icon would be useful.
Is this the top bar, or is this the new search box?
This is what my screen looks like:
So I don’t need to scroll down too much. (I click on New/Unread anyway and rarely use the topic list at the right).
Unfortunately this sort of thing is not easy to do—it requires substantial changes to the theme.
This is what my screen looks like
Yes, I know the text is a little bit larger than yours, but with my vision it is necessary.
You can click the cross to get rid of the banner. It’s only supposed to be there for new users to see the first time. I don’t have the banner now, and I guess that’s why it doesn’t take so much space. ![]()
That helped, thanks!
