No wired connection (internet) possible

Hi,

I have the problem my “internet doesn’t work” any longer since yesterday. The last thing I remember I did was to install updates (sudo dnf install) and that before the shutdown the GUI aks “Install pending software updates before shutdown” (or similar) and I said yes. A little bit strange because I installed updates via shell before but I did’t think about it.

  • The ethernet cable is fine. I tested it with another machine. And I tried another cable.
  • The hardware/mainboard is fine. I used Fedora-Live USB stick and there the cable connection runs without any problem.
  • I removed the connection profile several times and add another one without any results.
  • I did not change any network settings. And the settings (DHCP, DNS etc.) are the same as with the Fedora-Live-USB (which worked).

Unfortunatly I don’t have any possibilty to connect the computer via WiFi to download anything. I had to buy a USB-WiFi but in this case I would prefer to reinstall Fedora. But maybe someone has any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks for your time and best regards
Stephan

Do you have Mullvad VPN installed? If yes, check its configuration and disable the lockdown mode into vpn settings. Probably it’s a bug in the Mullvad update, it enables the lockdown mode by default.

WOW! Thank you very much! That was the problem.

I would never have been able to figure that out alone. So once again: thank you very much for saving me so much time and that you take yours to read and answer my post.
