Hey,
I have tried the Gnome and KDE fc42 ISOs.
So I wanted to ask if there are any plans to use the new anaconda installer in Spins,
like KDE and such.
I think this would make the general experience installing Fedora way better for all users,
no matter what desktop they choose.
I don’t know what tag would be the most fitting,
so please forgive me if I chose the wrong one.
Fedoramagazine:
Of course are this changes planed. Editions do have less to configure and are ready while they can be release blocker. They have to be tested and if they do throw errors/mistakes, they have to be fixed before release.
As yo already found out that the F42 is pre-released you can help debug them so nothing keeps in the way to release on time.
As soon as things work in the “official” editions, the members of the different groups have more time to bring the spins up to date so that there will be the same look & feel.
It is in the queue just to let you know:
Anaconda as native Wayland application
Currently, Anaconda is still an X11 application, which we would like to fix and make Anaconda Wayland native application to allow us drop of the X11 dependencies from installation ISO images. However, this change is not just a simple switch and we need to do some adjustments during the path which will impact user experience.

Only GNOME for F42 sadly. From https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/AnacondaWebUIforFedoraWorkstation:
“As the first step in this user adoption process, we are targeting Fedora Workstation only.”
Hopefully it will be standard on all isos by F43, we shall see.
