Nest with Fedora: Call for proposals and sponsors

Originally published at: Nest with Fedora: Call for proposals and sponsors  – Fedora Community Blog

As we celebrate Fedora Linux 36 with the upcoming Release Party, we are also looking forward to our next virtual event: Nest with Fedora. As I mentioned in my last update, the 2022 edition of our annual contributor conference will be our third virtual Nest paired with Fedora Hatches (local in person meetups). A big thanks to Fedorans for showing up with seven proposals for Hatches all across the world! Furthermore, I am excited to announce that the Nest with Fedora call for proposals and sponsors is now open.

You’ll also notice a new Fedora mascot in the banner for this post, a wonderfully Fedorable design developed by intern Jess Chitas. Introducing Colúr, inspired by the Nest logo and named with the Gaelic word for pigeon. The Design Team was inspired by wordplay because Colúr sounds similar to the word color in English and he is a comprised of all the Fedora colors! Welcome, Colúr!

Call for Proposals

Submit your proposals by opening a ticket in the Flock repo on Pagure. The deadline for proposals has been extended to Wednesday, July 13th! On behalf of the review committee, we look forward to your proposals! If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to the Mindshare Committee at mindshare@lists.fedoraproject.org.

What to submit?

Generally the sessions will be in one of these formats:

  • Session (25 minutes)
  • Session (50 minutes)
  • Workshop/Tutorial (110 minutes)
  • Half Day Hackfest

Submissions can span a broad range. We are currently open for proposals for the following:

  • Keynote speakers/topics
  • Informational sessions
  • Team/SIG meetups
  • Panel sessions
  • Project sprints
  • Tutorials
  • Workshops
  • Social sessions

There is also an opportunity to incorporate external activities that fit with our communities. For example we will be socializing in the Fedora Museum (WorkAdventure), and in the past we’ve “Beat the Bomb” or run a Minecraft instance! If you have an idea for a virtual social experience for the Fedora community at Nest, we are open to your ideas and you are welcome to open a ticket on the Flock pagure repo.

Call for Sponsors

We welcome sponsors for the third edition of Nest with Fedora, and our first run at Fedora Hatch. Nest with Fedora is a virtual variation of our longstanding conference Flock to Fedora. This annual gathering is an opportunity for our community to discuss new ideas, share what they have been working on, connect with each other, and revitalize for the upcoming year. Fedora Hatches are local in person meet-ups organized by Ambassadors and passionate folks who want to bring Fedorans together. If your organization is interested in sponsoring this year’s contributor conference and events please take a look at our Sponsor Prospectus and contact sponsors@fedoraproject.org.

Suggestion: Why Minecraft instead Minetest? Minetest is FLOSS.

Just a suggestion…
