Hey everybody!

I’m so excited to have been selected as the next FPL! To all the old hats in the community, I look forward to catch up with yall. And to the newer people who haven’t met me yet, I’m looking forward to working with you.

If you have any questions for me before I official start, I’m happy to try to answer them here.

I’m currently in the process of getting my house in Alaska ready for sale and move cross country later this month. I won’t bore you with the details other than to say never set down a cup of Swiss Coffee white paint on the kitchen counter right next to your cup of morning latte. Let’s just say, its a very accurately named shade of white paint.

Amazing!

Nothing but respect for you, Matt, and the amazing job you’ve done for over a decade. You’ve always been a superstar, and I’m sure you’ll do a wonderful job in your next role, clearly following the long-established off-ramp (albeit a slightly different team name) for ex-FPLs!

And Jef… insert Obi-Wan’s “now there’s a name I’ve not heard heard in a long time” meme… one of my favorite memories of my time in Fedora was the work that you and I did together, the chats, the collaboration. Good luck!

As always, y’all know how to find me. Keep up the wonderful work.

Posting from my laptop running Rawhide,

Max!

such nice words.
I’m gonna just go ahead assume that means your down for being a member of the FPL curling team roster. Expect some emails and calendar event invites soon about the team’s competition schedule.

Thank you! I’m not going far. Once I get settled into the new role, I actually hope I have more time to come back and focus on some of the things I wanted to do with Discourse.

Meant to welcome you this morning @jspaleta but I got swamped. Welcome (back)! And as a curling beginner but potential enthusiast and wannabe adoptee Canadian… yes please, let’s talk about curling!

Welcome @jspaleta - I don’t think our paths have crossed before, but looking forward to working with you and the Fedora team.
Thanks @mattdm for all your support over the years - enjoy the new role!

Mark

PS. I have curled, twice, before…but was pretty useless. Based in Ottawa so there are plenty of curling rinks around if you’re ever in the area.
Would it be controversial to say that XC skiing is more fun??? :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s the winter sport I hope to tackle next since our kid likes being outdoors in winter!
