Kernel problems

Just for the record I have already filed a bug report in red hat bugzilla: 2116036 – [abrt] dcn30_init_hw: WARNING: CPU: 0 PID: 4913 at drivers/gpu/drm/amd/amdgpu/../display/dc/dcn20/dcn20_hubbub.c:566 hubbub2_get_dchub_ref_freq+0x7e/0xa0 [amdgpu] [amdgpu] and my question is. Am I doing it correctly?

I mean I have never submitted a bug report before and I know that the support consists mainly of volunteers but it seems like Red Hat Bugzilla is not the right place to submit kernel issues? Sorry to be a bother, but this issue is really pressing, tiring and troublesome since I need my laptop to be fully working before college starts and I don’t want to go back to Windows anymore since I fell in love with Linux and Fedora in general.

If some folks here would be so kind to at least point me in the right direction to how to solve problems like these. Here is a temporary git repo with my bug logs https://gitlab.com/RobTheRealLifeAnimoo/log-dump

Issue is that the computer just freezes - sometimes in the GNOME environment but I will get pretty much guaranteed freeze everytime I do something in the power options. Today the laptop froze just in the splash boot screen even before X or Wayland loads so I am at a loss. I will appreciate any help.

Thank you in advance!

Hey @robtheanimoo

First of all, you don’t bother at all! Feel free to ask questions every time in our forum! We’re all patient, welcoming and trying to figure out the problems.

I have read your bug report and congrats to it!

Have u tried another Fedora spin edition, like KDE, Cinnamon, Mate? Does this happen as well?

Okay, just to be sure I installed KDE on my Workstation Editon Fedora alongside GNOME via the groupinstall “KDE Plasma Workspace” command and played around with the settings goofed around a bit and no freezes so far - just one visual bug (probably some scaling thing) - no biggie. So I think it is a GNOME bug.

Also, thank you for your kind words.

I totally forgot I have wrote a bug report for the GNOME settings on their Gitlab too - but it feels now it is more that just the Settings app bug. Here it is: System freeze upon opening Power options (#2003) · Issues · GNOME / Settings · GitLab

Okay, thx for installing another DE to be sure and that’s it :)! It’s good that you have reported the bug to GNOME as well.

Probably someone else has other ideas as well

Ok, I found out what was the problem. It was because of power-profiles-daemon. Once I uninstalled it and rebooted I no longer get system freezes and bugs about kernel-core in ABRT. I’m going to open an issue on ppd github. If anyone else is expiriencing these issues it fixed all of the freezes for me. Thank you once again.
