Installing fedora seems to have damaged my external hard drive | Data Recovery |

Any help is appreciated. I was attempting to install the ISO for Fedora 40 onto my laptop and failed to realize that I had my WD MYBook connected to the USB port during the download/install. It seems that the data for fedora overwrote my hard drive. Is there any recommendation for getting this back. I can no longer see my hard drive when it is connected to the USB port and am afraid I have lost my data that was there before.
Sorry if this does not make complete sense; a bit new on this.

First off Welcome to :fedora:

There’s no guarantee that you will recover anything, but this is probably the best tool for you to use to aid in recovery.

It would be best if you could have either a different USB drive or another computer for it to have a place to recover the contents to.
