Hi there,
TL;DR: I got this message…
So I guess I’m going to upgrade to F41 but since I had some mishaps in the passed after upgrading Fedora version - mainly grub issues, I wanted to know, what should I consider to be sure I won’t mess up my computer?
I have a not so traditional setup (with BTRFS and Luks - installed F36 using this guide from sysguides.com a couple years ago)
Mainly, is there a way I can run e.g. the grub update command at one step before some restarts?
I started using Fedora since F36 on my laptop (Asus Zenbok). At that time I was mainly a Manjaro user (on a desktop computer).
I ended up using Fedora Gnome as it was the only distro (and I tried almost all the main distros) that worked almost out of the box (I still do not have any sound on my internal speaker but apparently this is an Asus issue with the kernel). I guess that having 2 touchscreens and an Nvidia GPU is not helping with compatibility.
Anyway, I then upgraded to F37 and F38 without any issue (or not that I remember).
But when I switched to F39, it was very painful and had a hard time fixing the issue - and most importantly recovering the OS/my workflow).
I really don’t recall what I did but it was mainly related to grub.
So, since then I did not rush to upgrade to the next release (F40) and wanted to wait some time - indeed I was reading here and there people having issues…
Then F41 came out, but I also wanted to wait and see - but it seems there is still people having various issues here and there.
I knew that at one point I would upgrade… But I was surprised that F39 is already phased out.
Thanks for any information on any matter I need to pay attention.
