How to get rid of KDE Wallet Service popup forever

Hello,

i always get this popup when i open the Discord App. See the picture.

I already tried to untick “Enable the KDE wallet subsystem” in the KDE Wallet System Settings but that window still pops up everytime i start the Discord App. I also tried to disable KDE Wallet in the config file with the following line added to it:

~/.config/kwalletrc
[Wallet]
Enabled=false

This obviously doesn’t work either because unticking the option in the System Settings already adds this line to the file anyways. So it looks like disabling it doesnt prevent the window from popping up. :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Some people advised to just hit enter without entering a password. That doesn’t work. Also, i created my fedora user account without a password so i dont even have a working password i could enter. :rofl:

Does anyone know a working solution how i can get rid of just the popup ? Do i really have to set a password for my user account in order to get rid of this or how is this supposed to work. I dont want or need a password for my user account no one except for me has access to this computer. Appreciate any help

Kind regards

Nevermind. I fixed the issue. :white_check_mark:

In case anyone is facing the same issue… i fixed it by renaming the folder ~/.local/share/kwalletd to “kwalletd-old”. That way i got rid of the wallet and it automatically created a new folder and prompted me to setup a new wallet with a new password. Since i do not use auto login it won’t ask me again to enter the password after user login. If you want to use auto login you have to leave the password for the wallet blank otherwise it will still ask you everytime.

We are good now. :slightly_smiling_face:

The whole issue looks like a bug to me. In the installation process of Fedora 41 i setup a user account without a password. But after the installation process it never asked me to setup a wallet or a wallet password. After I installed discord it just started asking me for a wallet password that does not exist and it did not accept a blank password either. Even after setting a password for my user account it would still not accept this password for the wallet. Very strange…
