I don’t have a desktop at all with Fedora 40 on the Starfive VisionFive 2, but that didn’t stop me from trying to test build some different stuff.
Anybody could cargo install bottom, but it takes forever to build. I built it directly on the VF2.
I also built the czkawka cli/gui binaries if anybody wants to give them a go:
Love these small RISC-V processors in these early days.
I am the maintainer of hardinfo2 - a community reboot of hardinfo - system information and benchmark.
I only have a “Starfive Vision Five 2” board with the stock debian on it. I fixed a couple of issues for RISC-V and the hardinfo2 program works great on RISC-V now.
Could you please follow the build instructions here and try it out on your fedora RISC-V machines.
Please give the rebooted hardinfo2 project some love
It’s a great program for SBC.
PS: sysbench is not available on RISC-V yet.
Using the image you made, then tweaking it to point the koji f40 repo packages, I did another upgrade yesterday. The packages installed ok.
Unfortunately, the parts related to the desktop appearing like gdm, lxqt or x or mutter still aren’t behaving correctly and no desktop is appearing on fedora 40 yet on the VF2.
The Fedora Image will probably have issues with the new starfive VisionFive 2 SDK:
- A newer payload fw needs to be flashcp’ed
- A newer spl needs to be flashcp’ed
- Some of the dtb’s have updated their contents
- Some of the dtb’s have been renamed to reflect their intended board v1.2a or v1.3b
