Help with (tiny) GDM customisations

I am trying to make my GDM screen a bit nicer. I want two things:

  1. Changing the background. This I have managed, but it required me to write a little script to create a gresource file with a modified CSS that will use my background. This script I have now run on every update to gnome-shell because the file will be very likely overwritten.
    This shouldn’t be so hard.

  2. I want my monitors to be mirrored on GDM, so the login field is on all screens. It is confusing otherwise, it feels like it is always on the wrong one
I have tried to put a different monitor.xml file in all kind of places, nothing works. The file now also includes different names for the monitors, as this apparently differs between GDM and Gnome Shell.
This also shouldn’t be this hard.

Ideally, all of this should be manageable with a tool that is bundled with Fedora.
So don’t mention GDM-settings on Flathub, as that’s not it, and it also mostly doesn’t work.
