I’ve got Win11 that boots normally. When I use Win11 and reboot or shut down the PC the background of the screen on booting PC is normal. If I want to use Fedora 44 KDE I press F11 on boot and select Fedora and it goes to the GRUB and then I can use Fedora. From now on reboot or shut down the booting of PC has green background. When I use Win11 again (exept for the first green boot) everything get back to normal. What can I do?
Does this happen after you reboot from window?
Or does this happen is you power on then choose Fedora?
Also we need to know details of your system.
Please install inxi then run the command inxi -ezxx and post the output here as pre-formatted text (no screen shots).
This doesn’t happen using win11. It happens only when I use Fedora. I power on, press F11 to select Fedora partition. It goes to GRUB and load Fedora. Now if I shut down o restart I’ve got the green background. Then if I load win11 and shut down or restart, everything is normal again. Fedora is looking good. The problem is only in the booting.

Have you disabled Windows fast boot? If not turn off fast boot in the Windows and see if that fixes the issue.
Green screen is usually an HDMI problem, I think. (I get it on my TV occasionally from a misbehaving device.)
You’re running 4K at 120 Hz, which usually requires HDMI 2.1. But the AMD Linux drivers don’t properly support HDMI 2.1 for historic licensing reasons (hopefully this won’t go on for too much longer).
AMD Windows drivers do support HDMI 2.1, so it’s not too surprising that in this case Windows behaves better than Linux.
Does unplugging and replugging the cable make any difference at all, or is booting Windows the only thing that removes the green screen?
Fast Boot was already disabled
Booting Windows is the only thing that removes the green background on boot.
Is 2K 120Hz or 2K 60Hz fully supported by AMD Linux drivers on HDMI 2.1?
Maybe I can try that resolution to see if it fix the green background on boot.
That should work since it can be done over HDMI 2.0. (You can go up to 144 Hz at 2K, I think.)
Lowering resolution or changing HDMI port don’t fix the problem. Anyway this is a “no problem”, exept the green booting, Fedora runs good. If you have any suggestion to resolve it I will try. Thank you all for your support.
After first Win11 installation. I had the same problem. It was fixed by installind Adrenalin software and changing pixel format from YCbCr 4:4:4 to RGB 4:4:4.
I’ve noticed that passing from Fedora to Win11 the first boot is green and on Adrenalin I’ve got again YCbCr. On reboot it comes back to RGB.
Maybe this is related.
HDMI 2.0 actually can apparently do 120 Hz on 4K, only if it goes to YCbCr with 4:2:0 subsampling.
So it might be the AMD Linux driver automatically does that.
However, in that case you would have thought that lowering the resolution would fix it. So I don’t know!
