Hello, i have a question about installing driver on laptop with laptop with integrated and discrete gpu.
I have - AMD Radeon Graphics, as integrated and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU as discrete.
I have a problem with the display, I can’t change the brightness of the screen and also I can’t change screen refresh rate (system has only 65Hz option), but my display supports 165Hz.
How can I solve this problems?
Thank you.
With the nvidia GPU you absolutely should install the nvidia drivers. The nouveau driver does not support that GPU properly and does not do any hardware acceleration for graphics.
- First install akmods with
sudo dnf install akmods
. - When that finishes read and follow the steps in
/usr/share/doc/akmods/README.secureboot
to enable signing the kernel modules for nvidia
(this is needed if you intend to have secure boot enabled, and can be skipped if you disable secure boot in the bios) - If not already done enable the 3rd party repos in the software app, then from the command line in a terminal run
sudo dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-cuda akmod-nvidia
. - Wait at least 5 minutes then reboot and the nvidia drivers should now load properly.
Thank you, I am very grateful, I will try it soon
Hi, I did everything you said and now I can change the brightness of the screen (finally), but I still can’t change the refresh rate of the screen
That refresh rate is usually set within the gnome settings, not the nvidia settings panel. It has to be managed by the desktop environment.
I understood, but you can watch the last screenshoot i’ve sent (it’s similiar to yours), I has only “60,01 Hz” option
