Hello everyone I’m new to fedora. İs it normal , this photo ram usage ? I have macbook m1. thanks .
it looks normal to me
Yes it’s fine. Most of the memory is used by the webbrowser, which is caching memory aggressively for performance. It will release that memory again if it’s needed by other programs.
Besides that the kernel is also using 2.5GB for cache/buffering currently, which works the same way.
The M1 Macbook will use shared memory for the GPU, so around 1GB will be reserved for that as well.
To get a better picture of only memory try the command free
Then the ‘total’ less the ‘used’ should be approximately equal to the ‘available’.
For your system with 8G of RAM your display looks about normal.
ps_mem is better than free
$ sudo ps_mem

True for some.
But ‘free’ is a system utility which works for everyone and provides a summary.
While ‘ps_mem’ must be manually installed then must be run with root permissions to get the full picture. It also only shows usage (per process and total) and nothing about free or total ram nor swap.
