Fedora not secure using vulnerable drivers

https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5586

version NVIDIA-SMI 560.35.03
how install 550?

nvidia-smi is contained in the xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-cuda package from rpmfusion so installing that package for the 550 drivers should provide that command.

I want replace driver itself

There is work on going to create a replacement driver for nvidia that will be full featured and open source. But I’d guess its 1 to 2 years away from working and will depend on the nvidia GPU firmware.

I was in the position that I could afford to replace my nvidia GPU with an AMD GPU. Something to consider if you can afford it.

Hello, could you please share which AMD GPU did you choose? Do you think all of AMD GPU’s are working without any problem or just some models work fine on Linux?

Thanks.

I picked the Gigabyte AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT GAMING OC 16GB in Feb 2024. As I play games and have a 4k monitor I needed a powerful card. It’s an RDNA 3 GPU that is up to date and I expect to last a while.
(If you are upgrading GPU hardware check that your PSU has a high enough wattage, and connectots, to run the card).

I use Fedora KDE Plasma running on Wayland and Stream from rpmfusion works very well.
