Fedora KDE Desktop (Spins) F41 versus Fedora KDE Plasma F42 eddition

The Beta announcement below brings some changes of the structure how to download the KDE version in general.

On the fedoraproject.org website, you will find the new KDE version under:

https://fedoraproject.org/kde/download

The Fedora 41 KDE you will still find under:

https://fedoraproject.org/spins/kde/download

For the moment you might get confused not finding the F42 Stable version on the first link above. This is simply because beta/test versions are saved in the /pub/fedora/linux/releases/test/42_Beta/KDE/ARCHITECTURE/iso/ folder.[1] A F41 Stable not exists on that location (first link above) because the change is just from F42 on.

The move is automated as soon as the Stable release is made.

Afterwards the links will be:
/pub/fedora/linux/releases/42/KDE/ARCHITECTURE/iso/

To better distribute download traffic, it would be a wise idea downloading the KDE Beta version directly from a local mirror in your region (if you just need the ISO file).

Using the “Fedora Media Writer” software, you can also download the ISO file and create a USB bootable medium.

On tools, websites etc, the paths are dynamic and will slightly change depending on the status/version Fedora Linux has. Just keep this in mind before you make a request about the location of downloads.

Beta Release Highlights

New Edition Alert

KDE Plasma Desktop has been promoted to edition status starting with Fedora Linux 42 Beta! You can expect to continue to enjoy the same level of quality from Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop that you always have. In addition, Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop is now supported on Power Systems (ppc64le). Also the full KDE stack (including KDE PIM) is now available on Power and we have installable live images for OpenPOWER based systems like the Talos Workstation from [Raptor Systems].

If you are new to Fedora, a warm welcome from my side :-)
  1. ARCHITECTURE is ment as placeholder for the available Arch like aarch64, x86_64 etc. ↩︎

  2. This function will probably also convince new (logged in) users, especially from mailing-lists, about the simplicity of Discourse : ) ↩︎
