It is a known bug that the Fedora Atomic DE Distros are not installable if they are not allowed “to nuke your complete PC”
Poorly, there is another OS that has the same problem, that people often need to dualboot…
Could someone explain why this is currently not possible, and what the workaround or fix for that could be?
Actually I somehow had it installed and it worked. Rebased etc, everything working normally?
It would be really great to have this possible, as currently I need to use regular Fedora on a PC I am not always able to service, which is not that of a great feeling.
I’m so confused because I am hitting this limitation now, but I had previously installed Silverblue (forgot if I installed it at 38 or 39) and it worked find with Windows and I don’t remember jumping through hoops. A lot of what I’ve been reading make this sound more like an Anaconda (installer) issue rather then one inherit to the design of atomic spins, but I could be misunderstanding that.
Is that true? I have Kinoite dual-booting with Windows 11 on my computer. But I have them on different physical drives; is this an issue if they are installed on the same drive?
Yeah it’s an issue with having both installs on the same psychical drive. It’s not limited to Windows, it can also prevent multiple Linux installs from co-existing.
Though like I said, I did have it working at some point previously.
I honestly don’t know if it’s an inherent issue with the design of Fedora atomic distros or just a bug in the installer. Maybe someone more knowledgeable then me can chime in.
