Fedora 42 / new Anaconda

Following the feedback link …

The new system is lacking quite a bit of information, e.g., the adherence of partitions to installations, or labels in the overview.

It no longer remembers passphrases for encrypted partitions (if the same was used for several), and seems to forget which have been unlocked.

It also does not show what partitions to be formatted (or have been formatted?)

It would be great to bring these features back, or the old editor as an option.

You can access the Storage Manager by clicking on the three dots in the upper right corner. There you can find details about partitions and (re)formatting

I like the design of new anaconda installer which is minimal and user-friendly but I agree that the more advanced options like ‘Storage Manager’ for users who want to customize their disk layout are not so obvious to the user as it is hidden in the three dots in the upper right corner. A quick internet search would point user in the right direction but I think it would be better if the option is also present in ‘Installation method’ section (maybe as a ‘Customize Partition’ button) in addition to the option in the three dots in top right corner. Overall, I still think this is a improvement to the previous installer. Thank you Fedora team for all your hard works.

Anaconda installed has evolved so much since I was installing fedora in 2017 . It’s easier and simple but, it doesn’t suggest a home partition creation as new users coming from windows aren’t aware of this point. It an installation leap after all.
