I’ve heard reports of Btrfs causing system freezes. Does something like journalctl -t kernel --since=yesterday reveal any clues about what might be going wrong?

it affects all Apps and not just firefox.
I’ll try to replicate on another app and pull the logs to see if its the same module that is causing the issue.
(I also run a memtest without any errors… so that was a relief)

Does downgrading to an older kernel workaround the problem? For example, dnf downgrade --repo=fedora --releasever=40 kernel*. (You’ll need to pick the older kernel manually when booting. Use uname -r to confirm what kernel version your system is currently using.)
