Fedora 40 doesn’t boot | iMac | F40

Hello everyone,
I already installed Fedora 40 on a Hard Disk and on a USB stick, but for some reason both of the installations won’t boot. I have an installation of Fedora on another Hard Disk which I use on another computer and works just fine. Here’s what I see:

I’m assuming that it has something to do with the wi-fi adapter, that Fedora doesn’t see because I’m on a mac. I never installed the drivers needed, I have an ethernet cable. I also think that the problem is the computer itself, because on the other computer fedora works fine. What can I do?

When do you get that message — immediately after turning on the system or after other stages in the boot process? Can you still boot some version of macOS? What model is the Mac?

When you installed Fedora did you wipe the disk or just use free space? Apple may put firmware in the EFI partition. I have only installed linux on Macs in multi-boot configurations because macOS may be needed to update firmware.

I got this error after clicking on “start Fedora Workstation 40” from the grub. I can still access macOS because I have it on an external SSD. My mac is an iMac 27 inch 2019 and for the Hard Disk I deleted everything and then I booted into the installation process, but the USB was never used before

Added f40, macbook

Does this also happen when you have the external SSD with macOS plugged in?

Thank you so much! It worked, I plugged in my SSD with macOS and Fedora started with no problems. Thanks everyone!
