Fedora 35 - no audio devices on MSI laptop after fresh install

Hello,

I got a new laptop MSI Alpha 15 B5EEK and installed brand-new Fedora 35 Workstation (Gnome) on it, but for some reason no audio devices can be selected in the settings.

systemctl --user status wireplumber.service shows that is running…

I tried restarting pipewire, enabling wireplumber, swapping wireplumber with pipewire-media-session (and then back to wireplumber) but nothing changed at all.

Can someone please help me with what to do/check to fix this?

Could you please give us more info’s as :

inxi -Fzx in terminal and post the output as </> Preformatted text here.

Have also a look to pw-top to see what goes on when you open something with audio/video.

Do you get in the Terminal also this Nr.12 in front of every record?
It is strange to read this way.

You have more than one audio output. Try to install pavucontrol and see i you can select one of your output sources.

This 12 I haven’t noticed in other places in terminal.
pavucontrol doesn’t show any output sources in the Output Devices tab either. In Configuration tab I see several sources but only Off as option so I cannot turn them on (except the mic).
The only active audio device I see there and in the settings is the integrated mic.

Have you updated today (20211211)? There was a known alsa-related issue the other day that has been fixed in the latest updates.

I had updated, but hadn’t restarted yet - after restart the sound appeared.
Thank you both for the help!
