Feature Request: Native support for systemd-boot (sdboot) in Fedora x86 LIVE image

urrent doc indicates configuration of systemd-boot (sdboot) during initial installation is only an option via the netinst image.

Attempting to configure systemd-boot, even with “inst-sdboot” kernel option from LIVE image on x86 installation via Fedora41 fails with “Systemd-boot cannot be utilized with the current type of payload. Choose an installation media that supports package installation.”

Request is for “Install to Hard Drive” option on Fedora LIVE image to support systemd-boot for boot loader vs. GRUB2.

I’m aware you can change the boot loader configuration after initial install, but would desire to not have this extra manual step be a requirement to use systemd-boot.

How best to request this be a base part of the Fedora x86 LIVE image?

Fedora is worked on by volunteers. Features only get implemented when volunteers step up to do the work.

This is largely a function of the live image itself. I actually went part of the way through building a systemd-boot live image, but much of the pain was cleaning up the compose/build process rather than anything systemd/anaconda related.

But IMHO fedora needs fewer disk image choices and a better one stop, download this image and it will install what you want on your machine. New users (and sometime me) are endlessly confused by all the variations and spins and frequently the difference should just be a toggle the user selects somewhere during the install process. Ex: KDE vs Gnome, radio box on page two kind of thing. I currently do this kind of thing by using minimal or server and group installing a DE. Ideally all the kickstarts used to compose the fedora images should just be a ‘profile’ screen during a one stop install process.

I completely agree
