Factory reset from emergency mode?

Noob here. This is my first time installing and I think that I have bungled the install. Bascially I got this warning message.

Any help to get things running again would be appreciated, I am open to a factory reset if needed. See below for a detailed description of how I got here.

  1. I used this guide to do the install and everything seemed to be up and running for a bit:

Once things were set up, I noticed that the install wizard was still running and it had this irritating notification going off, so I assumed that I would need to do additional setup after initially loading the software.

  1. I went through all of the steps to install an encrypted OS again.
  2. I unplugged the USB containing the fedora install software.

Now when I turn on the laptop it prompts me to fill in my password twice, then after I put it in 2x it takes about 5 minutes to load, then prompts me to this screen. I’m not sure where to go from here.

You will likely find clues in the rdsosreport.txt

You reason /boot is missing is that no partitions hwill be mounted in the emergency shell. You will have to mount then manually.

Given the disk missing log my guess is that you made a bad change to you /etc/fstab

That can be fixed. But you will likely find it easier to fix from a live usb environment.

Thank you for your response, Barry.
I was able to open a live USB environment and figured out how to list my partitions (using this guide). Hopefully this gives some insight.

Where should I go from here?

Fedora 42’s new installer has an option to reinstall the system and keep the home directory, that may help.

Though before you do that, I would recommend trying to back up any important files from that live environment just in case anything goes wrong.
