External Speakers Issue

Hi,

I am running a recent install of Fedora 38 on a 2015 iMac 27inch booting from an external drive. I have Logitech THX Z623 speakers connected via an RCA to headphone jack in the back. When I play music through Spotify they are not coming out of the external speakers and are showing up as “Headphones” when I adjust the volume. Once I unplug them, the sound comes out fine from the built in apple speakers.

Here is the info after running INXI -A:

12Audio:
12Device-1 Intel 100 Series/C230 Series Family HD Audio 12driver snd_hda_intel
12Device-2 AMD Oland/Hainan/Cape Verde/Pitcairn HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 7000 Series]
12driver snd_hda_intel
12API ALSA 12v k6.4.6-200.fc38.x86_64 12status kernel-api
12Server-1 PipeWire 12v 0.3.76 12status active

Any insight and solutions would be appreciated. Thank you!

??? Anyone

Some hardware is designed to disable the internal speakers when headphones are connected. We do not have enough info to make guesses.

You did say that your speakers work when the headphones are unplugged.

Yes, the internal regular speakers work, but the external ones with a subwoofer do not. They register as “headphones” when I have the RCA plugged into the headphone jack, which in normal circumstances connect the computer to them, I tried this on my iOS side and they work fine, just not working in Fedora.
